St. Lawrence Wine Trail is NY's 18th wine trail

New York now has 18 official wine trails, with the signing of legislation creating the St. Lawrence

OGDENSBURG, N.Y. — New York now has 18 official wine trails, with the signing of legislation creating the St. Lawrence Wine Trail in northern New York.

Designated wine trails are marked by highway signs and are intended to raise awareness of the vineyards and wineries in a region as well as provide a boost to tourism and other local businesses.

The 80-mile St. Lawrence Wine Trail meanders along Black Lake, through Morristown, Ogdensburg, Canton, Potsdam, Stockholm and Brasher Falls. It links three wineries in Hammond, Lisbon and Winthrop, as well as a new craft brewery.

Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Senator Patty Ritchie sponsored the bill creating the trail.

Other state wine trails include the Thousand Islands, Adirondack Coast, Canandaigua, Cayuga, Keuka, Seneca, Lake Erie, Niagara, Dutchess, and Long Island.
