The Staten Island Yankees scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of the first inning, and they prevented a three-game sweep by the Tri-City ValleyCats with a 6-3 New York-Penn League victory on Sunday.

Collin Slaybaugh opened the first with a double off of ’Cats starter Luis Ordosgoitti (2-5). Ordosgoitti retired the next two batters, but Ty McFarland doubled home Slaybaugh. Austin Aune’s RBI single made it 2-0. After a Chris Breen single, Connor Spencer and Vicente Conde delivered run -scoring singles and chased Ordosgoitti from the game.

Jose Solano had two doubles for the Stedler Division-leading ’Cats (42-21), who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Nick Tanielu added a double and single.

’Cats outfielder Derek Fisher was added to the NYPL All-Star Game’s North Division roster.

Fisher, who is batting .325 with one home run, four doubles, two triples and a team-leading 14 stolen bases, joins three teammates — infielder Tanielu, catcher Jamie Ritchie and relief pitcher Ryan Thompson — on the team. Fellow outfielder Bobby Boyd was originally selected to the squad, but was promoted to the Single-A Quad Cities River Bandits last Sunday.

The NYPL All-Star Game is Tuesday in Brooklyn.
