Man menaces Schenectady workers with fake weapon

A city resident pointed an imitation weapon at code enforcement workers this morning, police said.

A city resident pointed an imitation weapon at code enforcement workers this morning, police said.

The incident happened just after 11:30 a.m. in the area of Nott Street and Park Place.

A code enforcement officer reported that someone in a group of men had just pointed a weapon at city code enforcement workers.

Arriving police found a man on Park Place that matched the description of the man with the weapon. Police detained the man and found an imitation firearm, police said.

The man was identified as William Patrick Deaton, 26, of Schenectady. He faces one count of second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

Deaton was also arrested on a warrant charging him in connection with a prior incident with third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing, misdemeanors.
