A University at Albany student took his life at his off-campus apartment, according to the university.

The death of the UAlbany senior from East Meadow comes after two other students passed away six months ago.

In March a 20-year-old undergraduate student from Franklin Square, Nassau County was found dead in his residence hall on the main campus in Alumni Quad. A week later, a junior from Port Jefferson was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

UAlbany encourages faculty, staff and students to seek support through the University Counseling Center at 518-442-5800, Middle Earth at 518-442-5777 or the Interfaith Center at 518-489-8573.

Staff from the University Counseling Center will be available today from 2 – 4 p.m. in Campus Center 364 and on Saturday from 1 – 3 p.m. in the Office of Student Involvement in Campus Center 130.

Also, the Middle Earth Peer Assistance hotline at 518-442-5777 is available 24-hours a day through Sunday night.

“During this difficult time it is important we join together as a community to support one another,” said Christine Bouchard, vice president for student success, in an email to the UAlbany community. “We all mourn this tragic loss and offer our deepest condolences.”
