Saratoga County girl, 14, allegedly lured into sex

Police said a Coeymans man used Facebook to lure a 14-year-old Saratoga County girl to his residence

Police said a Coeymans man used Facebook to lure a 14-year-old Saratoga County girl to his residence, where he had sex with her and gave her a tattoo.

John Dryden, 24, was charged with one felony rape count and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in Town Court and sent to Albany County Jail, where he’s being held without bail.

Town police investigators initially received a report from the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department, indicating a missing teenage girl could be in their jurisdiction. Police were given Dryden’s address and when they checked his residence, they found the missing girl.

Further investigation revealed Dryden allegedly picked the girl up from her home Sunday and brought her to Coeymans, where they stayed until Wednesday. Police said Dryden had sex with the girl and also gave her a tattoo without consent from her parents. Dryden is due back in court Oct. 21. An investigation into the case continues and further charges could be filed.
