A Gloversville man was charged with felony drunken driving after state police said he drove into oncoming traffic and forced a trooper off the road.

The trooper from the Mayfield barracks was on patrol driving east on County Highway 122 in Johnstown when the driver of the eastbound vehicle, John M. Lucas Jr., 46, crossed into his lane and forced him off the road, troopers said.

After being pulled over by the trooper, Lucas failed a field sobriety test and was found to have a blood-alcohol content of 0.18 percent, troopers said.

Lucas was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated and released on a ticket to appear Nov. 19 in Johnstown Town Court.
