Residents of Colonie’s Latham Water District, including the village of Colonie, are being advised to boil water used for drinking or cooking until 10 a.m. Monday.
The advisory was issued in an “abundance of caution” following a water main break at the town’s water treatment plant early Saturday, town officials said.
The “precautionary boil water notice” will remain in effect until a bacteriological survey shows the water is safe to drink. Residents are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for two minutes or use bottled water.
Residents of the village of Menands are not affected.
