A Vermont woman will spend the next four years behind bars after she admitted to having a loaded handgun in her vehicle when she was stopped last year on the Northway.
Krystal L. Waite, 28, of Pawlet, was also ordered to serve three years of post-release supervision during her sentencing Thursday in Saratoga County Court. In December, she admitted to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon, a felony.
State police said Waite possessed a loaded Smith and Wesson .380-caliber handgun when they stopped her on the Northway in Malta in January 2014. She was subsequently indicted on felony second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated unlicensed operation.
