A Schenectady man has been charged in a Jan. 14 shooting that police say occurred when the victim refused to give up his car.
Isaiah Pettway, 23, was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and third-degree grand larceny, all felonies, Schenectady police said.
Police were called to the LUKOIL gas station at 2248 Broadway at about 7 a.m. Jan. 14 to find a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound, police said. The victim, who survived the shooting but was not identified by police, told police the incident occurred on Cedar Street near Broadway.
Pettway is accused of pointing a gun at the man and shooting him when he refused to give Pettway his car, police said.
Pettway is being held in Schenectady city lockup until his arraignment today.
State police assisted in the investigation, which is ongoing.
