A 19-year-old man has been charged with assault after allegedly stabbing his 10-year-old brother in the neck at his home Wednesday afternoon.

Cody W. Clements of 226 Haas Road in the town of Saratoga was arrested by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of first-degree assault, a felony, Sheriff Michael H. Zurlo said.

Deputies said they were called to the residence at 5:46 p.m. Wednesday, and the first deputy to arrive found the 10-year-old standing in the driveway, bleeding from the neck. Clements was taken into custody at the scene.

The victim was treated at the scene by the General Schuyler Ambulance Corps and transported to Albany Medical Center, where he was listed in stable condition following surgery. Deputies said the wound does not appear to be life-threatening.

Clements was arraigned before Saratoga Town Justice Timothy Williams and sent to the Saratoga County jail without bail. He is due back in Town Court at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Zurlo said the incident remains under investigation. No motive has been disclosed.

The home is located just outside the villages of Victory and Schuylerville, about nine miles east of Saratoga Springs.
