Albany place say the unidentified, 22-year-old man was apparently riding west on Mercer Street when he collided with a vehicle heading south on Quail Street. After hitting the motorcycle, police said the vehicle struck a tree in the intersection.

The motorcycle rider was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the other vehicle, as well as a passenger, sustained minor injuries and were taken to St. Peter's Hospital, police said.
