Schenectady police say man was shot in leg

Schenectady police say a man suffered a gun shot wound to the leg earlier this evening.

Schenectady police say a man suffered a gun shot wound to the leg earlier this evening.

Police say that at about 7:21 p.m. officers were sent to Paulding Street for a report of a man inside a vehicle who had been shot.

Police did not find a wounded man or a vehicle, but a short time later police received a call from Ellis Hospital’s McClellan Street campus concerning a man who just arrived suffering from a gunshot wound. Police responded to the hospital and located the victim.

The unidentified man was treated on the scene by members of the Schenectady Fire Department and transported to Albany Medical Center via Mohawk Ambulance.

The man’s condition is not considered life threatening at this time.

It’s unknown if the victim is related to the earlier reports of shots fired at Steinmetz Homes, police said. They said they had no further information.
