State worker allegedly found drunk in Corning Tower

A state employee is facing several charges after state police said they found her intoxicated Friday

A state employee is facing several charges after state police said they found her intoxicated Friday night at the Empire State Plaza .

Troopers said Sarah E. Barrett, 40, of Albany was found after they responded to a report of a person unconscious inside the Corning Tower.When they arrived, troopers said, Barrett was conscious and seated and “smelled of alcohol.”

While being questioned, she allegedly struck a trooper and was placed under arrest. Troopers said Barrett continued to be combative during her arrest and transportation to the Albany County jail.

She was charged with second-degree harassment, disorderly conduct, second-degree obstructing governmental administration and reckless endangerment.

She was arraigned Saturday morning in Albany City Court and returned to the Albany County jail on $2,500 bail. She is scheduled to return to court April 22.
