Race to require street closings in Schenectady, Niskayuna

A busy stretch of road in Schenectady and Niskayuna will be closed to traffic for almost three hours

A busy stretch of road in Schenectady and Niskayuna will be closed to traffic for almost three hours Saturday during the fifth annual Pedal-Paddle-Run.

All of Aqueduct Road and the stretch of Van Vranken Avenue from Hillside Avenue to Anthony Street will close from 7:45 to 10:30 a.m., according to a news release from Schenectady County, which hosts the event. The triathlon starts at 8 a.m. in Aqueduct Park.

Officials moved the race, formerly run each September in Scotia, to Niskayuna and about five months forward in an effort to grow the event.
