A man was wounded and taken to Ellis Hospital on Friday after a shooting on Strong Street in Schenectady's Hamilton Hill neighborhood.

The victim, who is not being identified by policee, was shot in the area of 860 Strong St. around 1:30 p.m., according to Schenectady police Lt. Mark McCracken. The man is in stable condition, McCracken said.

The shooter reportedly fled on foot and is still at large, McCracken said.

The area of Strong and Hulett streets was blocked by police Friday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing.
