Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple’s son has been arrested on drunken driving charges, police said today.
Kyle Apple, 21, of Albany was arrested early Saturday morning after an accident at Central and Colvin avenues, police spokesman Steven Smith said. The accident involved property damage.
Kyle Apple was charged with driving while intoxicated and aggravated driving while intoxicated, misdemeanors. The aggravated charge relates to accusations that Kyle Apple’s blood alcohol content was above 0.18. Police did not release Apple’s exact measured blood-alcohol content.
Apple also faces a violation count of unlawful possession of marijuana. He was also accused of having an open container of alcohol.
Apple was issued appearance tickets and released to return to court. He was to appear this morning, but that appearance is now scheduled for Friday, court officials said.
Sheriff Craig Apple could not be immediately reached for comment.
