City police have arrested five Amsterdam residents for allegedly using golf carts as bumper cars at the Amsterdam Municipal Golf Course.
Investigators say that on Sept. 22, the suspects entered a building where members’ golf carts are stored, took five carts out onto the golf course, and caused more than $7,000 worth of damage to the carts by crashing them into one another.
On Thursday, they announced the arrests after a weeklong investigation. Charged with third-degree criminal trespass and fourth-degree criminal mischief were:
— Richard J. Green, 29, of 8 Clinton St.;
— Joshua Green, 18, of 1625 County Highway 107;
— Luis E. Quinones, 19, of 169 Division St.;
— Two 17-year-olds whose names were not released.
All five were issued appearance tickets to appear in Amsterdam City Court at a later date.
