The director of the Albany Stratton VA Medical Center remained on paid administrative leave Monday, a week after being placed there, a hospital spokesman said.
Director Linda W. Weiss was placed on leave last Monday, the spokesman said. Associate director D. Scott Guermonprez is overseeing the hospital’s operations in Weiss’ absence.
Center officials declined to state the reasons for the leave, calling it an employee action. She will have an opportunity to respond.
Weiss remains listed on the hospital’s Web site as part of its leadership team. She won appointment as director of the center in September 2010. She has been with the VA in various capacities since 1972.
The center and serves about 42,000 veterans from the Canadian boarder down to Kingston and from about Utica east to the state border. It records 420,000 patient visits in a year and had a budget in 2012 of $207 million.
The hospital won top performer status last year from the independent Joint Commission in the areas of heart attack, pneumonia and surgical care.
