Another year, another high ranking for Niskayuna.

The Niskayuna Central School District is 44th in the state in the latest annual rankings of the top school districts in the nation by Niche, a Pittsburgh-based company that rates schools, cities and neighborhoods nationwide.

The No. 44 ranking is the highest for any school district in the Capital Region; the next-highest is Bethlehem at 53rd. Schenectady, meanwhile, is 539th.

Nationally, Niskayuna is ranked 461st out of more than 10,000 school districts, while Bethlehem is 542nd and Schenectady is 9,020th. The top-ranked district is Tredyffrin-Easttown in Pennsylvania.

In 2014, Niskayuna High School was ranked 26th in the nation -- and sixth in New York -- on Newsweek magazine's list of America's best high schools.

Niche, founded in 2002, says on its website that its rankings comprise such key factors as the strength of academics, quality of teachers, school resources, quality of student life, and student and parental reviews.
