High schools: Middleburgh boys' basketball wins at buzzer

Ryan Brown dropped in a buzzer-beating layup as Middleburgh edged Southern Division-rival Schoharie 53-51 Wednesday night in a Western Athletic Conference game.

Schoharie had the ball under the Middleburgh basket with two seconds left, but overthrew an inbounds pass, setting up Brown’s game-winning basket.

Jacob Coso paced the Knights with 17 points, C.J. Singer had 13 and Peyton Olsen chipped in with 12. Jackson VanDerwerken sparked the Indians with 17 points, and Mitch Barton connected for 12.

Zach Hilton scored 33 points to lift Berne-Knox-Westerlo past Duanesburg 65-58 in another WAC matchup.

Justin Houck had 19 points to back Hilton, who went 14-for-18 from the line.

Austin Onorati scored 17 points for the Eagles, connecting on five threes. Jared Hulbert added 14 points.

Deonte Holder continued his hot streak with four threes and 18 points, and Mekeel Christian Academy went to 7-0 with a 75-45 win at Bishop Maginn.

Scott Voelker, Carter Stewart and Dan McCarthy scored 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Lions.

Dylan Klock fired in 17 points, and Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville have up 11 points over the final three quarters in a 74-20 win over Northville.

Connor Farrington clicked for 22 points, and Colin Bradley contributed 14 to propel Saratoga Central Catholic over Galway 69-38.

Lucas Sossei scored 16 points, Mike Hartleib generated 15 and Canajoharie defeated Fort Plain 58-54.

Tobias Holmes scored 19 points, Roddy Delagrandeanse netted a season-high 15 and Schenectady (5-2, 6-2) topped Shaker Tuesday in a Suburban Council game

60-48 for its first straight win.

Tyrone Jenkins had 12 points for the Patriots. Brian Hayes and Tyler Rhoden led Shaker with 14 apiece.

GIRLS

Danielle Biggers sank five three-point baskets, and Broadalbin-Perth took charge early in a 51-32 non-league win over Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.

Biggers finished with 17 points, and Tatiana Ivery added 13 for the Lady Patriots. Sarah DelVecchio led the Golden Knights with 16.
