Senior Raislan Aiken of Glens Falls scored 581.80 points to win the Section II diving finals at Shen

Senior Raislan Aiken of Glens Falls scored 581.80 points to win the Section II diving finals at Shenendehowa High School on Thursday.

Sophomore Nick Lydon of Shenendehowa (573.65) finished second overall, but won the Division 1 (large-school) championship.

Also finishing in the top eight — and thus qualifying for the state meet — were Ian Killane of Shenendehowa; Matt Parent of Glens Falls; Jack Newton of Niskayuna; Jack Larkin of Ballston Spa; Matt Chao of Niskayuna; and Chris Redmond of Bethlehem.

Basketball

Ballston Spa outscored Queensbury 20-9 in the third quarter and went on to a 58-51 victory Thursday night in a non-league boys’ basketball game.

Jack Fitzgerald had a game-high 20 points for the Scotties, and Logan Pritchard chipped in with 10.

Brett Rodriguez led the Spartans with 17, and John Dennett added 14.

In a Western Athletic Conference girls’ game, Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville took a 28-8 lead over Sharon Springs at halftime and went on to win 44-30.
