Boys' basketball: Girard sparks Glens Falls victory

Joseph Girard III scored 39 points to lead Glens Falls over Stillwater 73-59 in a Section II Class B

Joseph Girard III scored 39 points to lead Glens Falls over Stillwater 73-59 in a Section II Class B quarterfinal game Friday night at Shenendehowa.

Girard III was a perfect 19--for-19 from the free-throw line. Mitchel Wayand scored 35 points for Stillwater in the loss.

Glens Falls will face Schalmont in the semifinals on Monday.

Mekeel Christian Academy knocked down 16 three-pointers in their win against Hoosick Falls 76-41 in a Class B showdown. Deante Holder had seven of those three-pointers and finished with 24 points for the Lions. Alex Mendez scored 16 points for Hoosick Falls.

Mekeel Christian Academy moves on to face Hudson on Monday.

Hudson held on to defeat Voorheesville 65-60. Tyler Dellavechia scored 18 points for the Blue Hawks in the victory. Scott Glasheen had a game high 21 points for the Blackbirds.

Alex Jones knocked down six three-pointers and finished with 20 points to push Lake George past Rensselaer 66-57 in a Class C matchup. A 19 point fourth quarter helped propel the Warriors to the victory. Anthony Carter scored 22 points for the Rams.

Top seeded Berne-Knox Westerlo defeated Mayfield 49-43. Berne-Knox will go on to face Lake George.

Washington Heights defeated Albany Academy 74-60 in a non-league matchup. Washington Heights had four players in double figures. Hameir Wright scored 17 points for Albany Academy.
