Summer Arts Preview/Popular Music: Watch for big jams, Wussy's return
Norah Jones and band will play Brewery Ommegang on July 21.

• Phish on July 1-3, and the Dave Matthews Band on July 15 and 16 at Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Big jams for big crowds at our biggest venue — where other top shows this summer include Dixie Chicks on June 11, Dead & Co. on June 21 and Steely Dan on July 10.

• Wussy on July 9 at The Low Beat. Their shows at the same cozy club in March and July of 2014 hit everybody’s best of that year lists, including the Gazette’s; and they have a great new album “Forever Sounds.” Raw rock and roll: a huge noise with a fearless heart.

• The Joe Krown Trio on July 9 at the Parish Public House. Krown plays B3 organ with formidable help: Walter “Wolfman” Washington, guitar; and Russell Batiste Jr., drums. They rock old-school New Orleans funk, blues, soul and jazz; and they really know how.

• The Tedeschi Trucks Band, Los Lobos and the North Mississippi All Stars on July 10 at the Green River Festival, July 13 at Saratoga Performing Arts Center and July 20 at Bethel Woods Center. The best rock package on the road – a soulful big band, east L.A. poets and southern-fried groove-sters, respectively — hits us three times in July.

• Norah Jones, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band on July 21 at Brewery Ommegang. After side trips with the Little Willies and Puss N’ Boots, she’s running the show again with a new album, “Little Broken Hearts,” and new band. The Preservation Hall Jazz Band plays traditional jazz as well as anyone since Louis Armstrong.
