State police have identified and arrested the operator of a vehicle that struck and seriously injured a 9-year-old boy Friday night, then left the scene.
Brittini Weis, 29, of Wilton, has been charged with leaving the scene of a serious personal injury accident, a Class E felony, police said.
The crash occurred Friday night in Pyramid Pines Mobile Home Park. The boy, from Greenfield Center, was riding a bicycle on Old Hickory Drive in the park about 6:30 p.m. when he was struck by a white SUV.
The boy suffered severe head injuries was airlifted to Albany Medical Center where he remains in pediatric ICU, state police said.
Police announced the arrest of Weis on Monday, after she surrendered herself with her attorney at the Wilton state police barracks on Monday.
She was also charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, troopers said, because her driver’s license had been previously suspended for failing to answer tickets.
She was issued an appearance ticket to appear in the Town of Wilton Court at a later date.
State police said they found the vehicle at a residence in Wilton on Saturday, after receiving a tip about a white SUV with damage.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
