A woman was struck by a vehicle in Schenectady overnight and sent to the hospital.

The woman, 57, who was not identified by police, was hit in the area of State and Moyston streets shortly before midnight, according to police.

She was treated on the scene by members of the Schenectady Fire Department and transported to Albany Medical Center with head and leg injuries, police said.

The victim’s injuries are not considered life threatening. The cause of the accident was determined to be pedestrian error.

The driver of the car, who cooperated with the investigation, was released by police. No tickets have been issued to the driver and the pedestrian may be ticketed later today, police said.

The state police assisted with the reconstruction of the accident and traffic patterns have been restored this morning in the area.
