A corrections officer found narcotics hidden in tomato sauce at Cayuga Correctional Facility Monday, a New York State Correctional Officers Police Benevolent Associations press release said.
The officer was working in the package room when they found 600 milligrams of narcotics hidden inside two 8-ounce cans of Goya tomato sauce in a USPS box sent to an inmate from Brooklyn on July 21, NYSCOPBA said.
An X-ray revealed two balloons in each can, each filled with blue-and-white, 10-milligram packets of the narcotic suboxone, NYSCOPBA said, and were still in the prescription medicine wrappers. Each can lid had a partially indented seam, sealed with glue. In total, 60 packets of suboxone were inside the two cans, which all appeared to be sealed and intact.
