Town leaders will host a budget forum Wednesday to give residents information about the town’s finances before submitting the 2017 budget.
Town Supervisor Chris Koetzle said the forum will cover information about the town’s fund balance, debt reserve, capital projects and more. The town began hosting the public budget meetings seven years ago in an effort to increase transparency and understanding among residents, Koetzle said.
The purpose of the September forum is to allow residents to ask questions or raise concerns early in the budget process, he said.
He will present his budget to the Town Board at the end of the month, and the board will come back with revisions by mid-October. The board is expected to adopt a final budget at its Nov. 16 meeting.
Another seminar focusing on the budget will take place Sept. 29, Koetzle said. That meeting will be more of a question-and-answer discussion, as opposed to Wednesday’s meeting, which will feature a presentation, along with an opportunity for residents to provide feedback.
