Police: Homeless man killed in Milton hit-and-run

The Saratoga County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning that killed a homeless man.

The dead man was identified as Jacob C. Perring, 32, police said.

The collision took place at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday on Saratoga Avenue, an unlit town road that runs from the village of Ballston Spa northward into Milton. The driver who struck Perring is accused of leaving the scene.

Deputies said the vehicle involved in the incident has been located but did not say whether the driver has also been found.

"The investigation is ongoing," deputies said.

Perring was taken to Saratoga Hospital, where he died of his injuries shortly after arriving.

The Ballston Spa Police Department, Community Emergency Corps and Ballston Spa Fire Department all assisted, deputies said.
