Soccer: Schoharie girls win third straight Class C crown

Carrie Krohn scored late in the second half, and Scho­harie captured its third straight Section II Class C girls’ soccer championship with a 1-0 win over Lake George Wednesday at Lansingburgh High School.

Krohn headed in rebound with 9:45 left after a corner kick by her sister, Megan, struck the post.

Abbey Wetsel made seven saves for Schoharie. Rachel Shambo made 14 stops for Lake George.

Lake George, with a No. 2 state ranking, finished 19-1-0. Schoharie, New York’s No. 4-ranked team, improved to 19-1-0 and will meet Northern Adirondack in a regional game Friday at Stillwater.

Gabrielle Mowery and Abigail Seamans scored first-half goals as Bolton/Warrensburg beat Fort Ann 2-1 for the Section II Class D title at Lansingburgh.

Sarah Paige scored in the first half for the Cardinals.

BOYS

Luke Geczy and Matt Ricciardelli scored two goals apiece to lift Queensbury past Massena 5-0 in a Class A sub-regional at Colonie.

Erik Conboy started the scoring for Queensbury (16-3-1), and Greg Maccharulo had two assists.

Fort Ann beat Mount Academy 1-0 in a Class D regional final.
