An 8-year-old boy on foot was struck by a vehicle on Van Vranken Avenue Friday evening, police said.

An 8-year-old boy on foot was struck by a vehicle on Van Vranken Avenue Friday evening, police said.

The accident happened at about 6:20 p.m. in front of the Yates Village Housing Complex.

Paramedics took the victim to Albany Medical Center for treatment, where he was listed in serious, but stable condition.

Van Vranken was closed to traffic in the area of the accident while authorities investigated the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
