Galway teachers and the school board have approved a four-year contract that reduces annual pay raises from 2 percent to 0.5 percent.
The contract keeps employee contributions for health benefits at 15 percent and lowers the dental insurance contribution from 65 percent to 44 percent, according to a prepared statement about the contract. The deal was unanimously approved this week by the Galway Teachers Association and the Board of Education.
“The district has made many academic and co-curricular improvements during the previous two years,” Superintendent Shannon Shine said in the prepared statement. “With this agreement in place, the Galway Central School District can keep the positive momentum moving forward.”
The contract will run through June 30, 2020.
