Wilton woman sentenced to probation for tip inflation

Wilton woman was server at Saratoga Springs restaurant

A Wilton woman was sentenced Wednesday to five years probation for inflating tips nearly 200 times while she worked as a waitress.

Kadi L. Nadeau, 28, of Louden Road, was charged with first-degree scheming to defraud, a Class E felony. Nadeau was a waitress at Beer, Wine and Pizza on Weibel Avenue in Saratoga Springs.

Police said Nadeau inflated tips on 188 credit card receipts she was processing for customers. In most cases, the amount added was less than $10, but some were higher, depending on the amount of the bill. The scheme took place between February 2015 and September 2015.

In October, Nadeau pleaded guilty to the charge. She was released without bail and sentenced Wednesday.
