SCHENECTADY -- A car hit a gas pump after its driver lost control on black ice Wednesday morning, police said.

The accident occurred at the Lukoil station at the corner of Eastern Avenue and McClellan Street in Schenectady just before 8 a.m. The impact toppled the gas pump but there were no larger safety issues. The driver suffered what police described as a minor head injury.

City police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Dearing cited speed and weather conditions, specifically ice, as factors in the crash. Police issued tickets to the driver as a result.

Dearing did not have the driver's name or the specific tickets issued as of Wednesday.
