KINGSBURY -- A Saratoga Springs man is recovering after being hit in the head by the side-mirror of a pickup truck Thursday while walking along state Route 196 in Kingsbury, according to state police.
Troopers said Jonathan Roe, 49, was walking on the north shoulder at around 1 p.m. just east of the intersection with State Route 32 when the collision occurred, “throwing him violently to the ground.” A state Department of Public Service employee, he was working at the time of the incident, troopers said.
Roe was sent by helicopter to Albany Medical Center where he was treated for head and shoulder injuries, deputies said.
The westbound pickup was being driven by 21-year-old Austin Enos, of South Glens Falls, who deputies said fled the scene. He was charged with Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident, a misdemeanor.
Investigators reviewed security footage from several local businesses to identify the pickup and its driver, troopers said.
