The state Department of Environmental Conservation has released the first of three new patches for which the sales will be used to help maintain recreational trails.
The Trail Supporter Patch will be available March 1 for $5 at sporting license outlets or online for current state sporting license holders.
“I encourage both New Yorkers and visitors to explore the thousands of miles of trails across the state that are built for hikers of all abilities, and to purchase a new trail patch to help support and maintain these superb recreational trails,” DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos said in a news release.
The patch was first introduced in 2007. Sales have since raised more than $21,000.
