GUILDERLAND -- The owner of Crossgates Mall wants to build a hotel.

The 200-unit facility on Route 20 would sit across the parking lot and ring road, just south of the region’s largest shopping center.

The agenda for the town Planning Board’s meeting on Wednesday includes discussion for an advisory opinion of a rezoning that would enable the project to go forward.

Pyramid Management Group is seeking to change the zoning of 12.7 acres of land on Western Avenue from R-15/Local Business/Business Non-Retail Professional to General Business so that the project could move forward.

A Residence Inn By Marriott sits on the opposite side of the shopping center, just north of the mall on the frontage road next to Washington Avenue Extension.
