ROTTERDAM -- The town Republican Committee is seeking people interested in running for town office in the fall.
Town Republican Committee Chairman Stan Marchinkowski said GOP incumbents are expected to seek re-election, but the committee wants to consider candidates for those offices, as well as offices not currently held by the party.
Republicans hold two seats on the Town Board, and both Joe Villano and Rick Larmour may seek re-election. But Marchinkowski said the committee will consider others.
"Competition is good, especially when it comes to choosing the people best-suited for these positions during these challenging times," he said.
Other offices up for election this year include town supervisor, currently held by independent Steve Tommasone, two seats on the County Legislature held by Conservatives Holly Vellano and Randy Pascarella,Town Clerk Diane Marco, a Democrat, Highway Superintendent Larry LaMora, a Conservative, and Tax Receiver Dawn M. Pasquariello, a Democrat. Town Justice Kenneth Litz, a Republican, is expected to seek re-election.
The committee is also looking for people interested in serving on the Republican Committee.
