SCHENECTADY -- One man was injured in an afternoon shooting on State Street, police said.

The man was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment. His condition was not immediately clear.

The shooting happened just before 2 p.m. in the area of 787 State St., near Mohawk Ambulance.


Police vehicles could be seen on State Street near the scene, and at least one could be seen in on Mynderse Street in the adjacent Vale neighborhood.

Police searched for a suspect in the area with the help of a state police helicopter, police spokesman Sgt. Matthew Dearing said. He did not release a suspect description.

There was no immediate information on a suspect or suspects.
