SCHENECTADY — A boil-water advisory has been issued Wednesday for a portion of Congress Street because of a water main break, Schenectady County officials said.

All homes between Eighth Avenue and Ninth Avenue — 1201-1261 Congress St. — are under the order.

Officials advise residents to boil all water for one minute before using, or use bottled water certified for sale by the state Department of Health. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills most bacteria and other organisms in the water.

The damage is being repaired.
