SCHENECTADY — Two men face a host of charges after a lengthy drug investigation that culminated in the search of a Germania Avenue home Thursday night.

The city police department's Special Investigative Unit found 15.71 grams of cocaine, vials of liquid fentanyl and a small amount of concentrated marijuana, along with three guns, high-capacity magazines and $1,600 in cash when they executed the search warrant at 326 Germania Ave., first floor, just before 9 p.m., according to police and records.

The recovered weapons were a 5.56 caliber semi-automatic rifle and two .22 caliber handguns, according to the report.

Two of the guns had been reported stolen, records show. The semi-automatic rifle was reported stolen in January 2016 from DeKalb County in Georgia. One of the handguns, a semi-automatic Walther, was reported stolen in May of 2009 to a police department in North Carolina, records show.

Arrested were Marcell L. Johnson, 37, of Schenectady, and Donald L. Hooper, 36, of the Bronx.

Both men face charges related to the weapons. Johnson is also accused of selling crack cocaine in Schenectady on March 24 and April 10, according to court documents.

Johnson faces five counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, as well as two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies.

Hooper faces three counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies, records show.

Both men were also charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, police said.

The men were arraigned in Schenectady City Court Friday morning and ordered held. Johnson is being held without bail, Hooper on $75,000 bail.
