SARATOGA SPRINGS -- American classical pianist Simone Dinnerstein and the Havana Lyceum Orchestra led by José Antonio Méndez Padrón will bring their cross-cultural "Mozart in Havana" tour to the Arthur Zankel Music Center at Skidmore College on June 20.

Their June tour is the first time an orchestra of this size has traveled to the U.S. from Cuba since the revolution.

Dinnerstein and the orchestra's new album, "Mozart in Heaven," featuring Mozart's Piano Concerto Nos. 21 and 23, has just been released.

Dinnerstein is one of the most acclaimed pianists of her generation. She has been called "an artist of true expressive force" by the Washington Post and "a throwback to such high priestesses of music as Wanda Landowska and Myra Hess" by Slate.

Padrón is the founding music director of the Havana Lyceum Orchestra. He has toured Canada, Spain, France, Austria, the U.S., Ecuador and Nicaragua, and five of his albums have received Cubadisco prizes in the past decade.

The Havana Lyceum Orchestra has performed extensively in Cuba and abroad to widespread critical acclaim.

The 7 p.m. concert is co-presented by Skidmore and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center.

“I have a long personal and professional connection to the music and musicians of Cuba -- and a long-standing admiration for the artistry of Simone Dinnerstein,” said Elizabeth Sobol, President and CEO of SPAC.

“While the SPAC Amphitheater Stage is too large -- and the Spa Little Theatre stage too small -- the Arthur Zankel Music Center at Skidmore College is perfect in size and acoustics for showcasing these incredible classical musicians.”

Tickets, available at www.skidmore.edu/zankel, are $30, $25 for seniors and $20 for SPAC members.
