An 18-year-old man was killed Tuesday morning after his vehicle crashed head-on into a tractor-trailer in Selkirk.

Logan A. Penzabene, of Coeymans, Albany County, was driving a 2001 Oldsmobile on River Road about 9:20 a.m. when he crossed into the oncoming lane, striking the Freightliner tractor, according to the Bethlehem Police Department.

A passenger in the Oldsmobile — Matthew T. Hamilton, 18, also of Coeymans — had to be extricated from the vehicle, police said. He is in critical condition at Albany Medical Center.

The driver of the truck — John L. Norris Sr., 40, of Clearfield, Pa. — was uninjured.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash, which closed River Road for six hours, and what led up to it.

Bethlehem police asks that anyone who witnessed the accident call 439-9973.
