A city man is to receive eight years in state prison and forfeit nearly $100,000 and a Lexus for his role in a drug trafficking operation after his guilty plea Friday, Schenectady County district attorney's officials said.

Christopher Flood, 27, pleaded guilty to felony weapons and drug charges in connection with a December 2015 state police investigation. He is to receive his sentence in August.

Flood was arrested in a larger drug trafficking investigation. Investigators with the state police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team focused on drug dealers in New York City believed to be sending drugs upstate and to Vermont, prosecutors said.

The investigators received eavesdropping warrants that led to Flood's phone. Investigators determined the exact time of a drug transaction involving Flood, staked out the area and moved in and made the arrest. Another woman was also charged.

A search of Flood's apartment turned up more than $96,000 in cash and a loaded handgun inside a safe, prosecutors said.
