HALFMOON — A Clifton Park man involved in a March crash that injured his passenger is now accused of driving drunk and causing the crash, state police said Thursday.

John W. Cole, 52, of Englemore Road, was charged Thursday with one count of second-degree vehicular assault, a felony, and misdemeanor driving while intoxicated.

Cole is accused of driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.10 percent early on March 11 on Sitterly Road in Halfmoon.

He drove off the roadway and crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree, state police said. A back-seat passenger in the car suffered a serious back injury, causing paralysis, and was taken to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

Cole was arraigned and ordered held.
