School lacrosse: Scotia wins seventh sectional game in row

Myah Hughes scored four goals and added two assists, and Scotia-Glenville extended its Section II tournament win streak to seven games with a 19-6 Class D quarterfinal triumph against South Glens Falls Thursday.

The Tartans, who won Class C championships in 2015 and 2016, got four goals and one assist from Lillian Murphy, and hat tricks from Sage Plemenik and Alexis Zatlokowics.

Annika Kreppein scored four goals for the Bulldogs.

In another Class C quarterfinal, Averill Park defeated Emma Willard 21-11 behind Anita Reitano’s five goals.

Abbi Zalucky and Hannah Katz both notched three goals for the Warriors. Morgan Ingerson led Emma Willard with four goals and an assist.

Scotia-Glenville plays at Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, and Averill Park plays at Albany Academy Monday.

Kaitlyn Serpa picked up a ground ball and scored in overtime to give Johnstown a 14-13 Class D win over Cohoes.

Serpa finished with three goals, while Maddie Etherton led the Lady Bills — who travel to Schuylerville Monday — with three goals and a pair of assists. Sam Dayter collected nine goals and an assist for Cohoes.

Colleen McDonnell and Hannah Field both scored two goals, and Catholic Central posted an 8-7 Class D win over Hoosick Falls.

Lillian Hickey sparked the Panthers with four goals and an assist.

BOYS
Steve Avramidis tied his own school record with nine goals, and Schenectady beat Voorheesville 14-5 in a non-league game that was halted in the third quarter due to Thursday’s thunderstorm.

Mike Avramidis had four goals and an assist for the Patriots, who closed their season on a two-game win streak. Ian Owens scored four times for Voorheesville.

Ballston Spa capped its Suburban Council schedule with a 12-6 win at Bethlehem.

Alex Yerou paced the Scotties with four goals and an assist, and Sam Swingruber had three goals and an assist. Hayed Meredith scored two goals for the Eagles.
