A man was arrested and charged Friday night after allegedly striking another man in the head with a shovel, the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office said.

Eric J. McIntosh, 27, of 10 Skylark Dr., Apt. C, South Glens Falls, has been charged with second-degree assault and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies.

McIntosh is accused of intentionally causing serious physical injury to a person known to him by striking him to the head with a shovel late Friday on Palmer Avenue in Corinth, police said. The victim was treated at Saratoga Hospital for serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, police said.

McIntosh was arraigned in Corinth Town Court and sent to Saratoga County Jail without bail.
