COLONIE -- A woman who was hit by a pickup truck on Central Avenue Monday morning later died from her injuries.

Colonie police responded at 10:40 a.m. to a call for a crash involving a car and a pedestrian near the intersection with Vly Road. A Schenectady man driving a Dodge pickup truck was traveling west on Central Avenue when he struck the woman, who was attempting to cross the street, police said.

The 54-year-old woman, whose name was not released as of Monday afternoon, was taken to Albany Medical Center where she died from her injuries, police said.

The driver, William Warner, 54, stopped immediately, police said. Alcohol and speed have been ruled out as factors in the incident.

Central Avenue was reduced to one lane of traffic near Vly Road for a couple of hours Monday morning in the aftermath of the crash. It was reopened by about 1 p.m.
