Where are all the women? When we say it’s “The Good Ol’ Boys Club” here in Schoharie County, we really mean it.
Of the 16 supervisors on the Schoharie County Board, 14 happen to be of the male variety and I think that could be one of the reasons things never seem to get accomplished in our county. The county administrator is also a man. As former Town Supervisor Gene Milone used to say, we’re just floundering and, yes, years later the floundering continues.
Why is it that we don’t have more women supervisors?
I, for one, would love to see more women get involved here in Schoharie County, as I have watched the boys screw things up around here for years.
At the very least I would like to see one of the women supervisors become chair of the board.
It’s obvious we lack leadership and insight on the board, and it’s time to stop the waste of taxpayers money and the eternal floundering.
For things to ever get any better around here, something must change. We need some thinkers and doers running our county. We need to have accomplishments and when we start a major project, it must be completed. Without leadership, we don’t get these.
I think the women of Schoharie County could provide that leadership. Also, both of our state representatives are boys and our Congress member is a boy. So if you’re keeping score, that makes it: Boys, 18 - Women, 2. We need to have more of a balance. That would benefit all of us.
