Andrew W. McCarthy, 23, of Winsted, Connecticut, was driving on Interstate 88 when state police pulled him over. Inside his car after a roadside investigation, police said they found a large amount of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. Police did not indicate how much marijuana they allegedly seized, but, based on the charge, they are alleging more than a pound.

McCarthy faces one count of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a felony, and second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor. He is due back in court next month.
