SARATOGA SPRINGS — A select group of parents and residents will have a chance to interview semifinalists in the school district’s search for a new superintendent.

The Saratoga Springs Board of Education is seeking community members to serve on two advisory committees, according to a statement from Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex BOCES. Committee members will interview semifinalists in September.

Superintendent Michael Piccirillo announced in January that he is retiring Dec. 31 after five years in the position and 10 years with the district.

The search for his replacement is being led by BOCES District Superintendent James Dexter.

The job opening was publicized nationally June 5. School board members hope to appoint a new superintendent by mid-October and have him or her start on Jan. 1.
